During the 2012 World Perfumery Congress, Firmenich
displayed its trademarked molecules, including Delphol HC,
a green, floral/jasmine, fruity molecule with a slight cis
-jas-mone note. The molecule is reminiscent of magnolia and tea
with slightly fruity undertones. The company’s Splendione is
a note reminiscent of the floral heart of jasmine. It is petal-soft and natural and possesses tealike aspects. This material
imparts rich, soft effects in jasmine and other profiles in its
family, as well as in lily of the valley scents. At 1% Splendione
provides floralizing effects, but can be used at levels of 20%
and more. Delphone is a powerful, diffusive and complex
floral note that is predominantly jasmine with
celery seed and lactonic undertones. Mainly
used as a white floral booster, its lactonic aspect

works well in air care and liquid applications for bloom and
is used frequently for its boosting effects on fruity, citrus and

note with good volatility for top-note effects. This molecule
imparts the olfactory benefits of polycyclic musks while also
being readily biodegradable. Norlimbanol is an extremely
powerful woody and animal amber note that has a dry woody
aspect in the patchouli direction. Described by the company
as a “vertical” woody note, the molecule gives both top and
middle note effects, in addition to its long-lasting and substantive properties in the dry down. Koumalactone 10%
TEC is an extremely powerful coumarin, lactonic tonka

rice and sandalwood creaminess underneath.
Evodia essential oil (Evodia rutaecarpa,
China) is distilled from the dried fruit and

The ingredient is reminiscent of tagete and
petitgrain, though notably more intense. The
material’s sharp greenness on top is similar to hot chilies or
pimento. Evodia also has a natural aspect, similar to papaya
