Mane offers cinnamon essential oil (leaves, safrol-reduced;
FEMA# 2292, CAS# 8015-95-6, CAS# 84649-98-9). Known
by its botanical name, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, this natural,
Ecocert ingredient has spicy, woody, eugenol characteristics.
On a similar note, the company also features nutmeg rectified
essential oil (safrol reduced; FEMA# 2793, CAS# 8008-45-5
or 84082-68-8), which has spicy, peppery and woody characteristics. Known by its botanical name, Myristica fragrans, this
ingredient is also natural and Ecocert-certified.
ABP features Kunzea ambigua oil (CAS#97553-36-1), which is
an essential oil that imparts an herbaceous, earthy odor. Derived
from the terminal branchlets of Kunzea ambigua (Myrtaceae
family) plants growing in Northeast Tasmania, this ingredient
has antimicrobial and antifungal properties. It is used as a fragrance raw material as well as in aromatherapy and cosmetics
and possesses a characteristic, medicinal, earthy eucalyptus-type
odor. It blends well with vetiver, sandalwood and patchouli and
is well-tolerated on the skin, even with undiluted use.
Coffee espresso CO2 extract from Vigon International Inc.
(CAS# 84650-00-0) is made from arabica beans. Manufactured
by Evonik in Germany, this ingredient benefits from the low-heat process, so the extract remains truest to the fruit with a very
potent coffee note. The extract comes in an oil-soluble version
(Vigon#C-002551) and a water-soluble version (Vigon#C-002552).
It is food grade, natural, kosher, halal and GMO-free.
Vigon’s d-decalactone natural (FEMA# 2361, CAS# 705-86-
2) offers a very powerful, tenacious creamy nutlike odor with a
heavy fruit undertone. The material, mainly used in flavor from
1–2 ppm, is food grade as well as U.S. and E.U. natural, kosher,
halal and GMO-free.
International Flavors & Fragrances now offers Timbersilk
(CAS#: 54464-57-2/68155-66-8/68155-67-9), a fragrance ingredient which features a natural woody note
with refined cedar and amber facets. This
ingredient produces strength, volume
and tenacity for the majority of end-use
Meanwhile, the company’s fragrance ingredient, Nectarate
(CAS#: 113889-23-9), offers a voluminous fruity note encompassing the nectar of peach, tropical pineapple with pleasant
floral notes balanced within
the aura of soft balsam woods.
Nectarate’s odor profile fits very
well in a large majority of end-use
applications providing a modernized alternative to traditional
peach notes. It performs exceptionally well on damp fabric and
has great room filling effect.
Protein Advantage from Natural Advantage is a worldwide
natural, kosher product for use in applications that contain
proteins from soy, whey, etc. Protein Advantage will provide a
creamy, smooth mouthfeel in lieu of the harsh astringency and
bitter notes that are typical of proteins. In addition, it greatly
reduces any characteristic beany notes, creating a more dairy-like profile. This flavor ingredient, which doesn’t contain protein,
transforms the product into a more palatable application with
no reduction in the benefits of protein. It has a typical use rate
of 0.1% w/w as consumed in a final product.
Natural bacon key, introduced by Taste Advantage, provides
smoky, fatty, crispy bacon notes to a wide variety of applications.
This worldwide natural, kosher product is natural and vegetarian. The use level ranges from 0.06–0.20% w/w as consumed
in a final product.
The company also offers natural dipropyl disulfide (FEMA
#3228), which occurs naturally in black and brown mustard,

Currie Marketing features WS- 23 (FEMA# 3804, CAS#
51115-67-4), which is a cooling agent without the bitterness of
menthol. Suggested applications include use in chewing gums,
confectionery and personal care products.
Coffee furanone (FEMA# 3373, CAS# 3188-00-9), distributed
by J.H. Calo Co. representing Minafin Group’s Minasolve in
the U.S., is a nature identical flavoring agent with
a caramel character and a brown nutlike nuance
(it naturally occurs in coffee, onion, pineapple,
tomato, guava and chicken). It can be used in food
and beverages with a typical dosage of 5–30 ppm.
The group has also developed a process to
manufacture 2,5-diethyloxolane (FEMA# 3743), known for
its sweet herbal caramel odor.
Sarita Bio Naturals features cypriol oil (CAS# 91771-62-9),
known as Cyperus scariosus, is natural and has a characteristic
odor profile. Its suggested application is in perfumery compounds.
